As an Events Specialist, you will coordinate and execute large-scale buying events at Home Hardware Stores Limited. This role requires an experienced events professional who is passionate about creating engaging and memorable experiences. You will collaborate with external vendors, venues, and suppliers, with the support of our Events Team, to deliver high-quality events that bring our Dealers, partners, and team members together. Led by the Manager, Corporate and Dealer Events, this role suits a highly organized professional with strong time management skills who enjoys building relationships and bringing people together through engaging events.

Ready to make an impact in a new role? Here’s how:

  • Coordinate the planning and execution of major conferences and events, such as Homecoming, Dealer Retail Symposium, Supplier Partnership Meetings and Dealer Regional Meetings, as well as team member events.
  • Liaise with internal and external vendors (i.e., AV, catering, decor, and staffing teams) to prepare quotes, RFPs, financial estimates, BEOs and floor plans for the assigned events.
  • Act as the onsite contact for events, including coordinating deliveries, suppliers, event set up, facility preparedness, signage, client assistance and any day-of event requirements.
  • Maintain, and adhere to, the provided budget for the assigned events, in collaboration with the finance team. This includes budget tracking and revenue/expense reconciliations.
  • Lead working group meetings in support of your assigned events.
  • Provide leadership to Event Coordinators, ensuring they are aware of, and adhering to, HHSL event standards and expectations.
  • Support with other events as required.

We’re looking for:

  • Post-secondary education in Event Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field, with five to seven years of progressive event planning experience.
  • One to two years of leadership experience (direct or indirect) is an asset.
  • Experience planning large-scale conferences, conventions, or trade shows with 500+ attendees.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines simultaneously in a fast-paced event environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adjust communication style to various levels of stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team and independently with great interpersonal skills.
  • Very well versed with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Canva or graphics creation is an asset.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing needs with minimal supervision.
  • Bilingual (English and French) is an asset.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, as required.
  • The ability to be onsite three days a week at our corporate office in St. Jacobs, to accommodate our hybrid working model.
