About Our Lady of Sorrows Elementary (OLS) is a fun and active faith community centered on Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. We integrate our shared Catholic faith in our daily lives, through the celebration of the Mass, prayer, and liturgical celebrations.

Job Description Our school is in the beautiful city of Vancouver, only a short commute to the downtown core and near some of the city's best beaches, parks, restaurants, and shops. Our Lady of Sorrows Elementary (OLS) in Vancouver is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our team for a one-school-year maternity leave coverage starting January 2026 to December 2026. This position will be a part-time (.80 FTE) and days of employment are flexible.
Responsibilities
- Administering payroll.
- Processing payments (cheques/direct debit).
- Reconciling bank accounts and handling journal entries and issuing month end financial reports.
- Prepare and distribute T4s and Records of Employment (ROEs)
- Prepare annual budget
- Prepare GST and WCB filing
- Issue Tuition Tax receipts to families
- Preparing the audit package and assisting auditors during the yearly mandatory audit by the Ministry of Education.
- Performing other administrative and accounting duties as needed.
Experience And Education
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in bookkeeping and payroll management and full cycle accounting is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive is essential, experience with Sage50 is an asset.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

About Catholic Independent Schools Vancouver Archdiocese (CISVA)
The Catholic Independent Schools of Vancouver Archdiocese are group one independent schools, receiving 50% operational funding from the ministry of education. All schools teach the prescribed ministry of education curriculum. Teachers are paid according to the qualifications and years of experience. Teachers are also eligible for the Group Benefits Program that provides medical, dental, other extended health benefits, plus a defined contribution (DC) Group Pension Plan.
