About the role

Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Outdoors. Dangerous. Noisy. Wet/damp. Work setting: Staff accommodation provided. Rural area. Remote location. Forestry and logging. Tasks: Determine crew sizes. Determine equipment requirements. Determine logging operation methods. Recommend measures to improve work methods. Resolve work problems, provide technical advice and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality. Establish work schedules. Oversee safety of operations. Prepare and submit reports. Train or arrange for training. Ensure adherence to government regulations. Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule (and possibly review) activities of workers. Hire and train or arrange for training of staff. Supervision: 11-15 people. Chainsaw and skidder operators. Logging and forestry labourers. Silviculture and forestry workers. Working groups. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Forestry Safety Certificate. Forest Management Certification. Computer and technology knowledge: MS Office. Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Type of logging: Thinning. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication. Excellent written communication. Team player.
