About the role

Welcome Home!

We’re more than Canada’s largest independent hardware and building supplies retailer—we’re part of communities across the nation.

Turn Change into Confident Adoption.

As the Training and Documentation Lead, you will own and define the end-to-end training and adoption strategy for PRISM and related store digital capabilities. You will ensure Dealers adopt new systems and enhancements confidently, with minimal disruption and consistent messaging across HHSL teams and vendors. This role brings together strategy and execution—governing training standards and content, overseeing third-party providers, delivering key enablement, and partnering cross-functionally to drive adoption and release readiness. Reporting to the Manager, IT – Product Delivery & Enablement, this opportunity is suited to a strategic and hands-on leader who can translate complexity into clear, scalable enablement that drives real-world impact.

Ready to make an impact in a new role? Here’s how:

  • Define learning paths by role and store maturity, including new store onboarding, refreshers, advanced workflows, and change-specific microlearning.
  • Develop and maintain a structured, version-controlled training asset library that is easy to navigate and governed by clear content standards across all contributors, including vendors.
  • Create release enablement packages for each release, including what’s new, process changes, impacts, step-by-step guides, short videos, FAQs, known issues and workarounds, and escalation guidance.
  • Develop, coordinate and/or deliver training sessions, ensuring consistent facilitation, appropriate attendance tracking where applicable, and reliable follow-up resources.
  • Manage third-party training providers by defining scope and standards, reviewing deliverables for quality and consistency, coordinating schedules, and ensuring alignment to HHSL messaging and release readiness.
  • Drive scalable enablement and continuous improvement by building internal capability, including train-the-trainer models and Dealer champions, and tracking effectiveness through participation, confidence feedback, key pain points, and post-release support trends.
  • Partner with Dealer Success and Business Development to provide enablement materials such as talk tracks, demos, FAQs, and objection-handling guides, while aligning training deliverables to rollout waves.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Operations Support (L1/L2) to validate workflows, align dealer-facing messaging, and ensure training reflects runbooks, known issues and workarounds, escalation paths, and post-launch readiness.
  • May include on-site training at Home Hardware locations.

We’re looking for:

  • Post-secondary education in Adult Learning, Instructional Design, Education, or a related field is an asset.
  • A minimum of five to ten years of progressive experience in training, enablement, or learning and development, including experience leading and defining training or enablement strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience owning end-to-end training and adoption programs, including curriculum design, role-based learning paths, and change enablement that drives adoption.
  • Strong strategic thinking and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and deliver across competing initiatives while aligning to release timelines and business needs.
  • Proven ability to lead and align Dealers and cross-functional internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to translate complex workflows and technology changes into clear, structured, and engaging training and enablement materials that support Dealer adoption.
  • Experience designing scalable enablement models and leading the evaluation and recommendation of tools and technologies to support training delivery and adoption at scale.
  • Experience using data and adoption insights to measure effectiveness, identify gaps, and continuously improve training and enablement strategies.
  • Strong understanding of retail environments and store operations, with the ability to connect system changes to real-world Dealer and customer impact.
  • Strong organizational, writing, and instructional design skills, including content governance, version control, and alignment to release cycles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence in delivering training sessions and presenting to a variety of audiences.
  • The ability to be onsite three days a week at our corporate office in St. Jacobs, to accommodate our hybrid working model.
