About the role
Some of what you will do:
The Staples technology team is seeking a motivated and talented Software Developer to join our team. We want an individual who will challenge the norm, strive to create the best experience, and someone who always puts the customer first. You will have a passion for writing clean, simple code and a willingness to share learnings within your development team. You will work in a collaborative environment where you can grow your skills while contributing to mission-critical applications that serve our customers.
Specifically, You Will:
- Develop program code using Synergy DBL, Open VMS/Linux/Visual Studio and Workbench. Maintains, revises, and updates current code, including troubleshooting, fixing bugs and improving system functionality.
- Maintain code quality by using or implementing development best practices
- Working with others, assists in devising problem statements and proposed solutions to system-related problems and issues. Involves frequent communication and close cooperation with colleges.
- Work with technology and business leadership to define the right technological solutions to solve complex problems
- Design, develop, test and deploy code within the software application
- Participate in code reviews and follow development best practices
- Contribute to testing strategies including unit and integration testing Collaborate with team members in an agile environment, with waterfall deployment
Some of what you need:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science or related field
- Knowledge of Synergy DBL or a similar coding language
- Knowledge of Visual Studio and Workbench
- Knowledge of working in Linux environment, shell scripting
- You are a creative problem solver who can help determine the root cause of issues and provide potential solutions
- A team player who is willing to share knowledge within the team and help others grow
- Bilingual in French/English would be beneficial
- 5+ years of experience building applications
- Experience programming in Synergy DBL or similar language
- Experience using Visual Studio, Workbench, Linux
- Experience using Service Now Familiarity with design thinking and customer centric design
