Your contribution!

This role’s main objective is to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates in response to power utility RFPs. The Estimator will also be responsible for maintaining up-to-date construction budgets throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring financial alignment with scope, schedule, and contractual obligations and alignment with evolving market pricing trends.

Your day-to-day!

Estimate Development:

  • Develop detailed construction cost estimates for wind, solar, and hydro projects at various stages of development.
  • Support bid submissions for utility-scale power RFPs by providing timely and competitive cost inputs.
  • Work closely with internal teams (engineering, procurement, legal, finance) to capture project-specific requirements and risks in the estimates.

Budget Management:

  • Maintain and update construction budgets from early development through to execution.
  • Track changes in design, scope, and procurement to update project cost forecasts accordingly.
  • Reconcile estimates with actuals and identify variances and lessons learned for future improvements.

Market Intelligence:

  • Monitor market trends and pricing benchmarks for key construction inputs (labour, equipment, materials, subcontractors).
  • Build and maintain a pricing database and cost library for renewable projects.
  • Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and industry sources to ensure estimates reflect current market conditions.

Process & Tools:

  • Develop and improve estimating templates and tools to enhance accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Ensure all estimates follow internal standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Risk and Opportunity Assessment:
    • Identify cost-related risks and opportunities during estimate development.
    • Provide input to risk registers and contingency planning.

Your skills, our requirements!

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in cost estimating, preferably in renewable energy or large infrastructure projects.
  • Degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Solid understanding of construction methods and cost drivers for wind, solar, and/or hydro projects.
  • Strong analytical and Excel skills; experience with estimating software is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents (drawings, specs, contracts).
  • Familiarity with contract structures such as EPC, BOP, or multi-prime is an asset.
  • Self-starter with strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Microsoft Excel (Advanced).
  • Cost estimating software, an asset.
  • Power BI, an asset.
  • Bilingualism (French and English, written and spoken) is required to ensure collaboration with different stakeholders outside of Québec on a regular basis.

  • The position is based in the company's Longueuil (Quebec) headquarters.
  • This position is a P3 level.
