About the role
Our client, a major resource development organization, is seeking JUNIOR PROJECT ENGINEER (ELECTRICAL-EIT) to join a site-based engineering team supporting mining and processing operations. Reporting to the Electrical Engineering team, the successful candidate should be technically strong, highly organized, and eager to grow within large, multidisciplinary industrial projects.
This site-based position supports project engineering, coordination, and technical deliverable management for a major mining program, with periodic travel to site for short rotations.
This is an excellent fit for a technically minded early-career engineer who enjoys a balance of office work, field exposure, and working closely with diverse teams.
The successful candidate will assist in coordinating project activities through all phases of the project lifecycle, from scope development and planning through execution and closeout.
Work Location: Remote BC mining site Rotation Schedule: 2/2 (camp site assignment with chartered flights available from departure point, travel allowance, meals and accommodation provided) Employment Status: Temporary Employee Contract Duration: 1 year with possible extension
Key Responsibilities Support the planning, coordination, and execution of site-based capital and sustaining projects. Assist with project scope development, cost estimates, schedules, and progress tracking. Coordinate with operations, maintenance, technical teams, and contractors to ensure project objectives are achieved safely and efficiently. Monitor project performance and provide regular updates on scope, schedule, budget, risks, and action items. Participate in field inspections, site walkdowns, and project meetings. Assist with contractor management, work package preparation, and procurement activities. Review technical documents, drawings, and project deliverables for completeness and accuracy. Support commissioning, startup, and project closeout activities. Ensure all project activities are completed in accordance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and site safety protocols.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university. Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with EGBC or another Canadian engineering association. 1–3 years of project, engineering, construction, or industrial experience. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Project. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Experience Exposure to mining, heavy industry, construction, energy, infrastructure, or manufacturing environments. Familiarity with project management principles, project controls, and contractor coordination. Experience working in a field-based or remote site setting is considered an asset.
