Barrick has an opening for a Canada Exploration Support Specialist. The successful candidate is responsible for providing logistics and administration oversight for Exploration projects, managing exploration programs in detail to organize, coordinate, and execute all projects’ requirements ensuring the correct allocation of costs and use of resources. The Canada Exploration Support Specialist will provide direct support to Canadian Senior Exploration Manager and US Regional Exploration Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Support budgeting process in coordination with NA Exploration Support Manager.
  • Manage service and goods requests for projects. Requests load in SAP, validation of monthly statements and receipt in system (SES).
  • Manage NGM Senior Exploration Manager and Regional Exploration Manager agenda and coordinate meetings, airfares, and lodging as required (in coordination with local Exploration Support Leads).
  • Organize technical meetings.
  • Know and understand projects’ structure for correct cost allocation among the different projects/entities involved in the Exploration activities.
  • Prepare Scope of Work, Sole Source, Change Orders and all related documents to initiate services requests.
  • Set up monthly meetings with supporting areas such as Finance, Supply Chain, H&S, Permitting and Sustainability to foresee and organize Exploration team requirements.
  • Coordinate and follow up administration processes such as goods and services purchasing, account payables, logistics, and personnel management looking for savings through synergies among the different projects/countries.
  • Prepare monthly reports based on SAP data to control projects’ commitments and costs in coordination with NA Exploration Support Manager.
  • Integrate sustainability, H&S, admin, permitting, logistics, and legal considerations into exploration planning, budgeting, scheduling, and decision-making processes.
  • Promote a strong culture of responsible exploration, ethical conduct, and sustainability leadership.
  • Ensure alignment with Barrick’s social performance standards, human rights commitments, and responsible mining principles.
  • Strengthen and protect Barrick’s social license to operate across all exploration jurisdictions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing across the Exploration organization. Other duties as assigned.

Environmental Requirements/ Considerations:

  • Propose and update the documents related to the SGA related to the areas of its competence.
  • Participate in the identification or update of environmental aspects and impacts, as well as comply with the monitoring of environmental controls, measurement and verification mechanisms associated with environmental management that correspond to them.
  • Participate in the identification of opportunities for improvement in activities related to the SGA.
  • Ensure that the operational procedures in their charge are correctly applied.
  • Provide information derived from the environmental management that falls on the position.
  • Participate in environmental training activities when required, in coordination with their hierarchical supervisors.
  • Communicate to the environmental area those events that constitute environmental incidents according to the current procedures, as well as participate in the investigation of them, contributing to the formulation of action plans.
  • Carry out the tasks and works in accordance with the Environmental Policy and the guidelines of the Environmental Management System.
  • Report environmental incidents and formulate corrective, preventive or mitigating measures, as appropriate.
  • Participate in the corresponding environmental training activities.
  • Cooperate and contribute to the overall success of the Environmental Management System by actively participating in its activities.

  • Performs inspections of health and safety conditions and risks in your workplace as necessary, corrects issues / conditions / risks that do not meet the standards and / or reports them to your supervisor by the appropriate means.
  • Ask questions and / or inform your supervisor when you are not sure about any health or safety condition, policy or procedure.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Finance, or a related discipline or Minimum of 6-10 years of progressive experience in related roles, preferably within mining or exploration required
  • Master’s degree and/or professional certifications preferred
  • Demonstrated experience supporting exploration or remote, field-based operations preferred
  • Understanding of environmental, social, and permitting regulatory frameworks preferred
  • Proven ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams required
  • Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and risk management skills preferred
  • Eligible to live and work in the United States required
  • Fluent in reading, writing, reading and interrupting in English language required
  • Fluent in reading, writing, reading and interrupting in Spanish language preferred
  • High personal commitment to Barrick’s values, sustainability principles, and responsible exploration practices required
