**TITLE:Rehabilitation Therapy AssistantSTATUS:**1.0 FTE – Temporary (ending: August 5/26)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Rehabilitation Assistant, reporting to the Clinical Support Manager and following clinical direction of the
Occupational Therapist II, is responsible for the provision of therapy services assisting the regulated therapist with client
service, administrative, and support activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Diploma from a recognized post-secondary rehab assistant training program (preferred) or related Bachelor’s Degree
-
A combination of relevant experience and a competency assessment that demonstrates the ability to practice at the
full scope of Rehabilitation Assistant
- Experience in rehabilitation setting preferred, experience with geriatric populations an asset
REQUIREMENTS:
-
Assist with client assessments, incorporating information gathering and reporting to Therapist
-
Intervention with individuals on a one-to-one basis or in groups as prescribed in a treatment plan
-
Observation and communication with the Therapist and co-workers regarding a client’s behaviour and health status
-
Adhere to charting guidelines as per policy and procedures
-
Assistance with the fabrication, cleaning, labelling, maintenance and inventory of devices/adaptive equipment
-
Education of clients/care staff with respect to use, maintenance, and limitations of devices
-
Preparation of assessment/treatment: room, materials & equipment
-
Recognize own competency and limitations and when necessary, seek assistance, guidance, and expertise from the
regulated Therapist
- Adherence to infection control procedures at all times
SHIFT INFORMATION Mandatory LAPP membership for permanent Part-time and Full-time employees that work a 0.7 FTE or greater (see policy FS 03-04)
