We are seeking candidates for one secondary school Learning Support Teacher for our Sikh faith - based school located on 10589 124 Street. Academic teachers do not have to be observers of the faith. Teachers from all diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply! We are an a IB MYP authorized World School and an AP Level 2 school. We are a growing school with a lot of opportunities! Our teachers are supported and have a prep in each semester.
Currently, we have one Learning Support Teacher opening for September 2025.
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Learning Support Teacher to join our student services team. The ideal candidate is passionate about inclusive education, self-motivated, and skilled at managing diverse learning needs within a high school setting. This role involves close collaboration with classroom teachers, Special Education Assistants (SEAs), and school administrators.
Key Responsibilities
- Student-Centered Support:
- Develop, implement, and adapt individualized instructional strategies based on students' IEPs.
- Support students both in class and in small group or one-on-one settings.
- **IEP Management & Documentation: **
- Stay current with all IEPs and proactively contribute to updates and annual reviews.
- Liaise with the IEP team to ensure goals are targeted, measurable, and aligned with student progress.
- **Collaboration & Communication: **
- Work alongside classroom teachers to co-plan accommodations and modifications.
- Facilitate regular check-ins with SEAs, ensuring role clarity and coordinated support.
- **Classroom Engagement & Behavior Support: **
- Demonstrate strong classroom management skills and foster a positive, inclusive environment.
- Respond flexibly to behavior and academic challenges with evidence-based strategies.
- **Initiative & Professionalism: **
- Take initiative in identifying and addressing student needs without waiting for directives.
- Actively engage in professional development and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.
We recognize North American teaching experience.
Salary: Starting salary of $6400 per month.

*This salary is only offered to Certificate of Qualification teachers or teachers who have a completed application with
the Teacher Certification Branch (BC) for a CoQ
**Teaching experience from within Canada is recognized for a possible higher
starting
salary for CoQ teachers
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education with specialization or certification in Special Education.
- Valid BC Teaching Certificate or eligibility to obtain one.
- Experience working with IEPs and diverse learners at the secondary level.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Respect for and willingness to work in a Sikh faith-based environment.
Preferred Attributes
- Prior experience supervising or coordinating SEAs.
- Familiarity with Ministry of Education policies on inclusive education.
- Proactive, empathetic, and solution-focused approach.
