Aviva Canada is looking for a hardworking individual interested in joining the Reserving team within the Corporate Actuarial family. This role reports into the Senior Actuarial Manager, Reserving.
Reserving is a trusted and highly valued function, with significant insight and influence on Aviva’s financial performance. In addition to building core reserving knowledge, team members benefit from meaningful interaction and exposure to insurance financials, claims operations, and actuarial pricing. Other development opportunities specific to the role includes technical skills in working with large datasets, claims knowledge, reinsurance knowledge, and product knowledge with a focus on commercial lines.

What You'll Do
- Support the operation and development of claims and policy data used by Reserving models
- Analyze the adequacy of the company's claim reserve levels by application standard actuarial techniques on core commercial business, and ad hoc solutions for specialty commercial business
- Support the Quarterly Reserving Committee and Year-end Valuation reports.
- Maintain monitoring reports for both internal and external reporting.
- Provide insights regarding the company’s financial performance from a reserving point of view.
- Build a close relationship with company-wide partners and connect with the business partners in understanding the reserve impact on their respective portfolio.
- Develop improvements in current process to improve efficiency.
- Act as a technical expert and mentor for senior and junior analysts
What You'll Bring
- Degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or related field.
- Working towards ACAS/FCAS designation
- Minimum 4 years of P&C work experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong team player who is also able to work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - ability to establish and maintain good working collaborations with various departments.
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills with the ability to work through the technical implementation details while appreciating the big picture.
- Strong technical knowledge with MS Excel and SAS.
