We are seeking an exceptional Golf Course Superintendent to join the executive leadership of a new, world-class Nicklaus Design golf destination currently under development in Drummondville, Québec, Canada.
The project comprises an 18-hole golf course integrated with a luxury hotel and spa, conceived to become a long-term reference in Canadian golf. The Superintendent position is expected to commence on August 1st, 2026, allowing the successful candidate to be in place well ahead of the first seeding operations.
The Superintendent will be appointed well in advance of opening and entrusted with full responsibility for the grow-in phase, the establishment and structuring of the greenkeeping team, and the setup of the new maintenance compound.

Agronomic Leadership & Grow-In
- Provide full strategic and operational leadership for the grow-in and long-term maintenance of all playing surfaces, from establishment through championship-level readiness, in compliance with Turfgrass Agronomy & Services programs.
- Deliver agronomic results aligned with Nicklaus Design standards, Turfgrass Agronomy & Services elite conditioning expectations, and the sustainability objectives defined by ownership.
- Plan, direct, and execute all aspects of turfgrass management, including irrigation, fertilization, pest and disease control, and cultural practices.
- Ensure full compliance with Canadian and Québec environmental regulations related to water management, chemical use, and environmental stewardship.
- Define and implement maintenance standards and operating procedures.
Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, train, schedule, and lead a high-performing maintenance team of approximately 16 staff members from grow-in through opening and full operation.
- Establish clear performance expectations while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and professionalism consistent with a luxury resort environment.
- Provide ongoing staff training in safety procedures, equipment operation, and best agronomic practices.
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and professional work environment.
- Collaborate closely with Nicklaus Design, Turfgrass Agronomy & Services, golf construction contractors, and ownership throughout all project phases.
Financial & Resource Management
- Develop, manage, and control annual operating budgets with discipline and transparency.
- Track labor, materials, and equipment expenditures to ensure financial accountability.
- Assist in planning capital investments, equipment replacement programs, and long-term agronomic initiatives.
- Prepare reports, forecasts, and operational updates for senior management.
Equipment, Machinery & Facilities
- Participate in the planning, selection, and investment decisions for all maintenance equipment.
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and replacement of all maintenance equipment.
- Contribute to the organization, and efficient operation of the maintenance facility, including workshops, tools, storage areas, and technical infrastructure.
- Manage chemical and fertilizer inventories in compliance with applicable regulations.

Professional Experience
- Demonstrated success as a Golf Course Superintendent or Senior Assistant at a high-end level facility.
- Strong hands-on grow-in experience is highly desirable; construction experience is considered an asset but not mandatory.
- Strong working knowledge of cool-season turf management.
Leadership & Competencies
- Proven leadership and staff management skills.
- Advanced agronomic expertise.
- Strong financial awareness, budgeting, and planning abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with ownership, executive leadership, and external partners.
- Proficiency in English and French is recommended.
Education & Credentials
- Degree or diploma in turfgrass management, agronomy, horticulture, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as GCSAA, QCSA, or equivalent are considered an asset.
- Valid pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain one.
Personal Attributes
- Passion for golf; playing experience is an asset.
- Strategic thinker with strong attention to detail and organizational discipline.
- Ability to perform and lead effectively in a high-expectation environment.
