Job Summary

The Goodwill Warehouse Academy is a workforce development initiative designed to provide hands-on training and employment pathways in warehouse operations. Focused on individuals facing barriers to employment, the Academy combines practical experience with structured learning to build skills in inventory management, logistics, safety, and teamwork.

The Workshop Facilitator / Career and Skill Development Specialist actively develops and presents workshops for Goodwill programs to increase knowledge, skills and build capacity of participants in our programs.

What you'll be doing:

  • Facilitating workshops (in person or virtually) based on needs of program participants.
  • Maintaining weekly schedules, attendance sheets and other related documents.
  • Adapting curriculum to a variety of cognitive abilities and audiences.
  • Developing workshop curriculum targeted to program participants and community organizations which includes, but is not limited to:
    • Enhancing job related skills for employment readiness
    • Enhancing job retention for those Individuals already employed
    • Assisting individuals in preparation for work experiences
    • How to support a team member with disabilities or barriers
    • Disability / Inclusion Awareness
    • Self-advocacy
    • Natural supports
    • Specific topics to support awareness and capacity creation
  • Researching best practices and current technology available for delivering inclusive and accessible workshops, both in person and virtually.
  • Developing schedules for workshops and other community presentations.
  • Remaining informed and current on labour market trends and maintains an up-to-date resource
  • Supporting interview preparation for participants with both individuals or employers.
  • Attending planning meetings with program participants to determine the needs of the individual or organization in order to recommend appropriate workshops or training.
  • Promoting disability awareness within the community by acting as a Goodwill Ambassador, encouraging acceptance and inclusion.
  • Reporting program participants’ progress and challenges to appropriate team members.
  • Utilizing ETO to maintain accurate and up to date/time records, case notes and other related documents.
  • Acting as an advocate and positive role model in all stakeholder interactions.

What you bring to the table:

Experience and Education

  • Minimum 2 years of post-secondary education.
  • 2 years’ experience in learning & development is preferred
  • Experience with adult learning principles and instructional design is an asset.
  • Experience supporting diverse learner groups is an asset.
  • Warehouse experience or knowledge is an asset.

Skills and Abilities

  • At least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must have non-GDL, valid class 5 driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
  • Must pass a criminal record check, including Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
  • Interest and ability to work with individuals with disabilities.
  • Believes in inclusive employment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate through oral and written communication.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, and a desire to learn and advance.
  • Ability to empower and motivate others.
  • Friendly with a professional appearance and demeanour.
