THE ROLE The Museum Manager plans, coordinates, manages and controls the operation of the Museum. They manage coordination of the museum collection management system and acquisitions procedures including maintaining temporary registers, cataloguing, documenting and researching artefact donations, maintaining collections database and all associated records and inventory control. They represent the museum at the municipal, regional, provincial, federal and international levels. The Museum Manager directs the storage of collections and set up of displays and exhibitions including managing the development of storylines and themes and organizing displays and exhibitions.

Qualifications Needed Education, Certifications and Licenses College diploma or certificate in Business Administration, Museum Technology or Conservation Technology AND several years of experience in a related field

Experience In use of automated collections management systems

In preventative conservation techniques

In historical research

In financial management

In budget administration

In personnel administration

In preparing and obtaining grants from various departments

In developing and processing multimedia content, scripting and preproduction for museum-related presentations

In promotion and advertising

In business planning

In using software for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, e-mail, and Internet browsing

Competencies Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

Language Requirements English Essential / Bilingual (English and French) an asset
