Your Opportunity:
The Laboratory Assistant II is responsible for providing leadership, supervision and guidance to the specimen logistics teams. The LAII is responsible for coordinating general department operations, including scheduling, and coordination of training. The LAII is also responsible to provide feedback for performance reviews, to problem-solve, to respond to customer concerns, and to function as a liaison between the Provincial Laboratory and its internal and external customers while promoting and maintaining strong partnerships. The LAII participates in the Quality Management Program, including entering information in quality reports.
Description:
As a Laboratory Assistant II, you will perform advanced preanalytical or analytical techniques on specimen/samples or coordinate, prioritize, monitor, and assign duties of laboratory staff in your assigned area. You will resolve escalated issues, conduct quality control investigations and maintain technical and operational procedures. You will be responsible for ensuring laboratory staff maintain compliance with policies and procedures and will provide coaching and feedback to staff and students.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year experience working in a large microbiology laboratory environment. Recent experience in a leadership role within a laboratory environment. Advanced Epic Beaker laboratory information system experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with quality accreditations, in particular preparation for internal and external auditing. Familiarity with pre-analytic quality monitoring.
