The Position

As our team continues to grow, we’re looking to add a second Senior Accounting Technician to support increased demand and new opportunities. The role will primarily focus on accounts payable and bookkeeping with the skills and adaptability to support full-cycle accounting, including supporting the accounts receivable function. This position ensures accurate financial reporting, timely processing of payments, and audit readiness within a dynamic team environment and a growing organization. The successful candidate will navigate a complex company structure and demonstrate the ability to be adaptable to change.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage the accounts payable mailbox, addressing inquiries and issues promptly.
  • Oversee the accounts payable function including processing and reviewing invoices for accurate coding and timely completion of payment runs.
  • Prepare weekly accounts payable reports for management review.
  • Review and post employee timecards in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Participate in the full month-end close procedures, including accruals, intercompany reconciliation, purchases and accounts payable.
  • Prepare journal entries and comprehensive bookkeeping tasks.
  • Prepare weekly bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare documentation and account reconciliations for audit purposes within assigned sections.
  • Provide support for accounts receivable functions intermittently including maintaining accurate project accounting, invoice processing and other duties involved in full-cycle accounting.

Required Education and Experience

  • Overall, 7-8 years of accounting experience, including a minimum of 4-5 years dedicated to full-cycle accounting responsibilities.
  • Post-secondary education such as a certificate, diploma or degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related fields is preferred.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Proven experience in full-cycle accounting.
  • Understanding of fundamental accounting principles.
  • Excellent organizational and detail-oriented skills.
  • Ability to prepare financial reports and reconciliations accurately.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Knowledge of invoicing, billing, and collections processes.
  • Knowledge of accounts payables procedures including invoice verification, payment processing and vendor reconciliation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and manage spreadsheets, use formulas, and generate reports to support accounts receivable processes.
  • Proficiency in using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems considered an asset.
