Are you an experienced hospitality professional with a passion for leading teams and creating memorable events? The Coast Canmore Hotel & Conference Centre, home to the largest conference space in Canmore, is seeking a Senior Manager of Conference Services & Sales to guide our talented Sales & Catering team.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a collaborative, guest-focused environment where innovation and service excellence come together. You’ll play a key leadership role in driving sales strategies, overseeing event execution, and ensuring every guest experience reflects the Coast Hotels standard of warm, genuine hospitality.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire the Sales & Conference Services team (4 direct reports), fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performance culture.
  • Assign group business strategically among team members, providing support with decision-making, event logistics, and revenue management.
  • Identify and navigate challenges effectively, ensuring positive outcomes for clients and team members alike.
  • Review and interpret contracts to ensure all events are executed and invoiced accurately and in compliance with agreements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, planners, and conveners, positioning Coast Canmore as the Bow Valley’s top destination for meetings and events.
  • Provide support and relief for other Sales & Catering team members when required.

Sales & Event Management

  • Attend and actively contribute to Sales & Revenue, BEO, and Resume meetings, ensuring strong cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Create and manage Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and Group Resumes for incoming groups, ensuring every detail is flawlessly executed.
  • Coordinate all aspects of group catering and conference events, including rooming lists, cut-off dates, menu planning, audio-visual needs, and special requests.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate catering forecasts and cost estimates, ensuring contractual clauses (attrition, food & beverage minimums, etc.) are achieved.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to develop creative promotions and sales strategies that support revenue goals and enhance guest value.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with Sales Managers for smooth handovers of group contracts.

Strategic & Administrative Duties

  • Manage and maintain the Infor SCS – HMS Sales & Catering platform, ensuring data accuracy and streamlined operations.
  • Partner with the Food & Beverage team to refresh catering menus and create effective marketing materials.
  • Oversee Passkey setup and monitoring for group bookings.
  • Represent Coast Canmore through sales calls, client visits, and tradeshows, developing relationships and uncovering new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with Food & Beverage, Finance, Front Office, and Revenue Management teams to ensure operational alignment and excellence.
  • Develop and execute innovative sales and catering strategies focused on guest satisfaction, revenue generation, and market leadership.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and market developments, ensuring Coast Canmore remains at the forefront of the regional meetings and events market.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Conference Services, Catering, or Sales within a full-service hotel environment.
  • Strong understanding of Food & Beverage operations, catering, and banquet management.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop a team in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and client service skills.
  • Proficiency in Infor SCS – HMS or similar systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in diagramming software
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle preferred.

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the General Manager and is part of the property’s Department Head team, contributing to overall strategy, leadership, and success of the hotel.
