About the Role

The Technical Trainer will play a pivotal role in the launch and development of training programs for manufacturing operations. This individual will be responsible for designing, developing, delivering, and continuously improving training content and curricula related to manufacturing fundamentals, Lean Manufacturing, Production Systems, Maintenance, and Shopfloor Operations. In the early stages, the role will require deep immersion in the business to identify training needs and build structured learning pathways from the ground up. The trainer will also manage all administrative aspects of training delivery, including facilities, equipment, supplies, enrollment, and documentation.

This position is in-person and located in the charming town of St. Thomas ON.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct needs assessments through process immersion, observation, interviews, and data analysis to identify training gaps.

  • Design and develop training programs and structured curricula for Manufacturing basics, Lean Manufacturing principles, Production systems and processes,shopfloor operator skills (incl. but not limited to 5S, Lean Principles, 8 Step Problem Solving, Total Productive Maintenance, etc)

  • Create engaging training materials including manuals, presentations, e-learning modules, hands-on exercises, and assessments

  • Develop and maintain a qualification matrix and training roadmap for various roles.

  • Facilitate instructor-led training sessions, workshops, and hands-on demonstrations

  • Deliver onboarding and upskilling programs for new hires and existing employees

  • Support Train-the-Trainer programs and evaluate trainer performance

  • Adapt training delivery to suit different learning styles and operational needs

  • Deliver end-to-end, customer-focused training solutions that align with business goals and operational requirements

  • Collect and analyze feedback from participants and stakeholders to assess training effectiveness

  • Monitor performance metrics and adjust training programs accordingly

  • Stay current with industry best practices and integrate innovative training methods

  • Manage training schedules, room bookings, and equipment readiness

  • Maintain training records, attendance logs, and certification documentation

  • Oversee the Learning Management System (LMS) for course registration, tracking, and reporting

  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of training facilities and tools

  • Coordinate training supplies and manage inventory

  • Work closely with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, and HR teams to align training with operational goals

  • Serve as a liaison with external vendors and internal departments (e.g., IT, Safety, Launch Teams)

  • Support audits and compliance activities related to training and documentation

What you bring to the Team

  • College diploma or equivalent in Manufacturing related disciplines.

  • 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing or technical training role.

  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and production systems.

  • Proven experience in instructional design and training facilitation.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Learning Management Systems.

  • Experience in a launch/start-up manufacturing environment.

  • Battery or automotive industry experience.

  • Familiarity with maintenance systems and shopfloor operations.

  • Certification in training or instructional design (e.g., CPT, ATD).

  • Bilingual capabilities (e.g., English/German) are a plus.
