OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Manager of Quality, Patient Safety, and Interprofessional Practice, the QEL plays a vital role in ensuring that MAHC is recognized as a leader in delivering safe, reliable, and effective care. This role will be responsible for supporting corporate quality improvement and large-scale projects and working with organizational leadership and staff to create policies and procedures that ensure good quality care. You will collaborate with key stakeholders to implement solutions for identified improvement opportunities, you map out new processes, test changes for improvement; analyze, interpret and disseminate data as it is related to quality. You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong relationship-building, facilitation skills and have an astute ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects simultaneously. The Quality Experience Leader supports a continuous performance improvement culture resulting in enhanced quality care, patient safety and a positive client and patient experience.
ROLE
- Support corporate and local initiatives to enhance quality and performance improvement
- Identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement and operational efficiency proactively
- Drive continuous improvement efforts in areas such as clinical appropriateness, efficiency, effectiveness, workflow, access to care, continuity, safety, and patient experience
- Participate in clinical quality reviews and lead teams in applying quality improvement and patient safety methodologies (e.g., reliable design, human factors, PDSA, root cause analysis, FMEA, LEAN, value stream mapping)
- Utilize a systems-based approach to optimize quality, safety, reliability, efficiency, and productivity
- Develop and monitor performance and outcome indicators
- Assist teams with the collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of performance data
- Apply change management principles and guide clinical teams through transformation processes
- Collaborate with risk management on key patient safety initiatives as needed
- Deliver education, training, and support to staff and physicians to foster quality improvement knowledge and skills across the organization
- Participate in quality of care and safety incident reviews, facilitate discussions, and recommend changes
- Contribute to achieving and maintaining safety standards and compliance with Accreditation Canada requirements
QUALIFICATIONS

Undergraduate degree in a health-related field, or a combination of project management and LEAN certification required

Membership in a regulated professional college in Ontario (preferred)

1–3 years of experience leading quality improvement projects

Certified Risk Management designation (asset)

Familiarity with Accreditation methodology (preferred)
-
Experience in data management and statistical analysis
-
Knowledge of healthcare quality assurance trends, practices, and legislation
-
Proven ability to analyze and interpret data for quality improvement purposes

Experience managing organization-wide improvement projects
-
Strong understanding of quality improvement and patient safety methodologies

Demonstrated success in implementing and sustaining positive organizational changes

Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills

Effective team leadership and conflict resolution skills across various organizational levels

Ability to build relationships and establish credibility with stakeholders

Self-motivated with excellent multitasking and workload management skills

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and statistical software

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Location: Multi-Site, working on site at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Hours of Work: Shifts will be Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, however shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements. You may also be required to be available evenings and weekends.
