Palliser School Division is currently welcoming applications for the Part-Time, Temporary Making Connections Worker (MCW), commencing December 15, 2025, until December 24, 2026, (or return of incumbent). The successful applicant will work in conjunction with the school-team and the Family School Liaison Counsellors at the school served within the Palliser School Division.
Reporting to the Clinical Team Lead you will be a game-changer for student success! The Making Connections Worker role equips schools with a powerful Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum, empowering students to navigate life's challenges. Beyond the classroom, you will be a guiding force for students and families facing obstacles, advocating for their needs and helping them overcome barriers. The Position
- Become a Champion for Student Wellbeing: Making Connections Worker
Duties And Responsibilities
- Implement evidence-based mental health programs and early intervention strategies within the classroom setting.
- Collaborate with schools to facilitate the successful integration of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum.
- Empower children, youth, and families by fostering the development of skills and knowledge necessary to cultivate positive relationships within the school, home, and community environments.
- Facilitate access to community resources for families by providing referrals, scheduling meetings, and coordinating transportation as needed.
- Advocate for families by liaising with school administration and community partners to ensure appropriate support and services are received.
- Coordinate crisis intervention by assisting families in accessing the most appropriate services during challenging periods.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. This role requires a dynamic and outgoing person who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate possesses excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for building relationships.
Qualifications And Work Experience Preference will be given to individuals with:
A related post-secondary degree or diploma in psychology, social work or similar;
At least 2 years working experience in mental health or health/human services related role (experience as a practicum student considered);
- Experience in an educational setting, with children and adolescents;
- Excellent communication skills & interpersonal skills;
- Experience working with community agencies and organizations;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Appropriate insurance coverage to transport children and families.
To support the Faith-Based Vision of the school and the society, the teacher should also possess:
- A commitment to Christian education.
- Provide a Statement of personal Christian Faith detailing a commitment to Christian Faith and education, with an accompanied letter of Pastoral reference (required).

- Criminal Record Check, including vulnerable sector check from Local Police Service or RCMP detachment (dated within the last 3 months);
- Social Insurance Number (SIN) card or document issued by Service Canada; SIN card/document must be in current legal name. Name on SIN card/document must match your Government Issued ID and Criminal Record Check;
- Government issued ID - valid driver's license, valid passport or Nexus card;
- Child Intervention Check, completed within 3 months of contract start date.

About Palliser School Division
The Palliser Regional Schools is a school jurisdiction located in southern Alberta. The geographical area stretches from just south of Lethbridge to the Bow River south of Calgary. Palliser Centre houses the Central Office Administration, Maintenance and Transportation Services and is located in the City of Lethbridge. In addition, a satellite Maintenance Shop has been set up in the Town of Vulcan. The division offers full public education services to approximately 8,1000 students from early childhood services through Grade 12. Palliser has 15 community schools, 17 Hutterian colony schools, 10 Christian alternative schools, nine of which are in Calgary on seven different campuses, four outreach programs, an online school, and two dedicated Low German Mennonite alternative programs. One of our outreach schools and a junior high in one of our community schools also serve the LGM community.
