About the role
Thyssen Mining Construction of Canada is a recognized leader in the underground mine construction industry. We are currently seeking experienced development miners for a project located in Northwestern Ontario. This is a FI/FO position operating on a 2 weeks in 2 weeks out schedule. Responsibilities and Experience:
- Perform development drilling, blasting, and mucking according to the mine plan.
- Operate underground equipment such as jackleg stoper, scoop trams (LHDs), and service vehicles.
- Install and maintain ground support (bolting, screening, shotcrete as required).
- Conduct scaling to ensure workplace stability and safety.
- Interpret development prints and instructions to ensure accurate drift advancement.
- Inspect work areas for hazards, report concerns, and follow all safety protocols.
- Support backfill, ventilation, and services installation as required.
- Maintain equipment, perform basic troubleshooting, and report defects.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and fellow miners to meet development targets
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years underground mining experience, preferably in development.
- Demonstrated experience operating jackleg stoper, LHDs, or other underground equipment.
- Ontario Common Core
- Strong understanding of underground safety standards and procedures.
- Valid underground common core or equivalent certification (region‑specific).
- Ability to read and interpret mine plans, development drawings, and standard instructions.
- Physically fit and able to work in demanding underground conditions.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.
