Join our Environmental Utilities team in a role where your engineering expertise will directly support the delivery of safe, reliable, and sustainable water, sewer, and solid waste services for the community. In this position, you'll contribute to the design, analysis, operation, and continuous improvement of municipal utility systems, helping shape infrastructure, programs, and service outcomes that keep essential services running effectively every day.

A closer look at the role
- Much of your time will be spent completing engineering studies, designs, reports, cost estimates, tenders, and contract documents that support and improve municipal water, wastewater, and solid waste systems.
- You'll regularly review subdivision designs, development permit applications, right-of-way plans, utility servicing proposals, and geotechnical studies to make sure they align with water and sewer standards and deliver quality outcomes.
- A portion of your work will take you into the field, where you'll conduct inspections, testing, monitoring, research, and evaluations to help ensure water, wastewater, and solid waste services operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with regulations.
- You'll support capital projects from a project management perspective, working closely with consultant partners and contributing practical solutions that support long-term utility performance.
- Keeping things on track also means preparing and maintaining financial, operational, asset, and personnel records and reports related to utility projects and operations.
- Throughout it all, you'll build strong relationships across the organization and community by collaborating with internal teams, consultants, developers, agencies, and the public, and by acting as a trusted source of technical guidance and coordination.

Qualifications
- Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Two (2) years of directly related experience as a Professional Engineer in the municipal water and wastewater fields.
- Experiencing in municipal water and wastewater fields may be considered an asset.
- Professional Membership in or the ability to become a Professional Member in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
- An equivalent combination of management approved training and experience may be considered.
- Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
