About the role

SENIOR SCHOOL MEALS PROGRAM

The District has a opening for the Senior School Meals Program position. Applications must be completed online via the website and will be accepted until 12:00 pm noon on August 22, 2025.

Reporting to the site Administrative Officer(s), this position is responsible for orientating and mentoring new School Meals personnel at the applicable site. This position is also responsible for purchasing groceries and assembling prepared foods and beverages for student lunches and overseeing cafeteria operations.

Hours of work: (7.0) hrs/day, Five (5) days per week

Duties to Commence: As soon as possible after closing

Work Base Year: 10 Months

Commencing Salary: $32.94/hr.

Duties to be assigned include:

  • Mentoring and training School Meals staff, providing guidance and support to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently
  • Maintains inventory and orders supplies as necessary; tracks stock levels and places orders to avoid shortages
  • Resolves customer complaints and addresses concerns ensuring student and staff satisfaction
  • Oversees student placements and work experiences
  • Purchases groceries as required as economically as possible
  • Ensures all food is prepared and handled in accordance with Food Safe requirements
  • Ensures allergy list requirements are met
  • Ensures food prepared meets the nutritional requirements as outlined by the Canadian Food Guide
  • Works in conjunction with site Administrative Officer(s), District Food Coordinator and District Health and Safety Supervisor to liaise with Health Inspector
  • Maintains the work environment in accordance with Governmental Standards
  • Maintains and administers records and collects and submits monies received
  • Performs other job-related duties as directed by the site Administrative Officer(s)

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalency
  • Food Service Worker Certificate or equivalent preferred
  • Food Safe Certificate, Food Safe Level 2 would be preferred
  • Class 5 Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle
  • Proven Experience in the food service industry (min. 5 years), preferably in a school or institutional setting
  • Ability to work independently and set priorities
  • Adaptable in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Customer service oriented
  • W.H.M.I.S. Certificate and other online safety training provide by the District to be completed within the probationary period
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to be an integral part of a team
  • Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search conducted by the District prior to starting employment
