The Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Building Operations, the Building Operator (Casual) provides support to our Technical Operations team during peak periods, staff absences and special projects. This position will support the operation and regulation of buildings, infrastructure and equipment heating at R+T Park Saskatoon.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in advanced mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, can troubleshoot a wide range of maintenance challenges and can easily adapt to working with new people in new places.

Primary Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting operation and regulation of industrial, commercial and laboratory HVAC systems, steam and hydronic heating and cooling systems and general maintenance like plumbing, pest control and ventilation.
  • Maintaining parts and supplies inventory to ensure adequate stock is available.
  • Establishing positive connections with R+T Park tenants by providing exceptional service to address any concerns in a timely manner.
  • Monitoring and adjusting plant and building equipment through computerized building automation systems.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

What We Want from You

  • 3-5 years of experience related to commercial building operations or as a physical plant operator (required).
  • Valid TSASK Fourth Class Power Engineer License and Valid TSASK Refrigeration Engineer License (required).
  • Valid driver’s licence and ability to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check (required).
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Ability to work on short notice when required.
  • Ability to assess and troubleshoot a variety of maintenance problems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of building HVAC systems, steam and hot water boiler systems and general network infrastructure.
  • Sound working knowledge and commitment to workplace safety and regularly reviewing company policies and SOPs.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Confidence providing estimates for labor, materials, price and delivery to R+T Park tenants and ability to stay on budget and timeline.
  • Effective communication, teamwork and time management skills.
  • Excellent understanding of how to ensure a safe work environment for tenants, co-workers and contractors working at the R+T Park.
