Job Description:
Position Purpose**:**
The Public Relations Coordinator will enhance The Salvation Army’s visibility and strengthen its connection with communities across Canada. By supporting media relations, crisis and issues management, marketing, and events, this position helps ensure the organization’s mission is clearly communicated and widely understood. Through these efforts, the role contributes to building trust, deepening stakeholder engagement, and advancing The Salvation Army’s impact nationwide.
Key Accountabilities:
- Oversees administrative functions for the public relations team to ensure efficient documentation management, accurate financial processing, and seamless day‑to‑day operations.
- Coordinates meeting schedules, logistics, agendas, and minutes to facilitate effective communication and productive team and Advisory Board sessions.
- Supports Advisory Board operations by preparing materials, maintaining accurate records, and enabling smooth and well‑organized meetings.
- Manages incoming media inquiries as the first point of contact, ensuring timely triage, appropriate escalation, and consistent organizational representation.
- Addresses public and internal inquiries with clarity and sensitivity, enabling prompt issue resolution and strengthened support to ministry unit leads.
- Organizes event logistics—including vendor arrangements, facility bookings, and catering—to contribute to the delivery of well‑executed events.
- Participates in event planning committees to guide coordination efforts and help ensure events align with organizational goals and stakeholder needs.
- Monitors event budgets and financial requirements to support accurate forecasting, responsible spending, and adherence to financial policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience****Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma of 2 to 3 years in a related field or relevant experience equivalent.
- Three years of experience in customer service.
- Demonstrates strong organizational and administrative abilities, effectively managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, while maintaining diplomacy and adherence to policies.
- Maintains a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, supported by strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Utilizes advanced proficiency in MS Office (including Excel and Word) to support efficient and high‑quality work outputs.
- Builds and preserves relationships of trust through integrity, sound judgment, confidentiality, and a customer‑focused approach.
- Adapts quickly to changing demands, showing flexibility, self‑motivation, and a commitment to meeting deadlines.
- Engages in continuous learning and upholds the mission, values, and vision of The Salvation Army in all aspects of work.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $44,685.33 to $55,856.66 with a maximum of $67,027.99.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
