About the role
Permanent-Full-Time
The Family Centre seeks to hire a full-time Operations Assistant to support the Lead Supervisor in the daily operations of the centre, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children. This role involves assisting with staff, program planning, administrative tasks, and maintaining compliance with childcare regulations for the Wallaceburg & Area Parent and Preschool Program. (The Corporate name of Wallaceburg and Area Parent & Preschool Program will be referred to from this point on as The Family Centre)
Directly accountable to the Lead Supervisor. In the Lead Supervisor's absence, reports to the Director.
Salary: $28.73-$32.08 an hour
Hours: between the hours of 6:30 am and 5:30 pm
Location: Wallaceburg
Position Type: Full Time

In this role you will…:
Operational Support
- Assist the Supervisor in overseeing daily centre operations to ensure smooth workflow
- Step in to manage routines and address immediate issues when the Supervisor is unavailable or is managing competing priorities
- Help coordinate staff schedules, breaks, and room coverage in a busy environment
Staff Support & Leadership
- Provide guidance and support to educators and support staff
- Help onboard and mentor new employees
- Promote a positive, collaborative team environment during high-stress periods
Childcare Programming
- Support implementation of age-appropriate programs and activities
- Ensure rooms are properly staffed and ratios are always maintained
- Step into classrooms as needed to maintain quality care and supervision
Compliance & Safety
- Assist in ensuring adherence to licensing regulations, policies, and procedures
- Monitor health, safety, and cleanliness standards throughout the centre
- Support documentation, incident reporting, and inspections
Family Communication
- Act as a point of contact for parents when the Supervisor is unavailable
- Address routine inquiries, concerns, and updates in a professional manner
Administrative Support
- Help with attendance tracking, documentation, and record-keeping
- Support scheduling, supply management, and general administrative tasks
- Assist in preparing reports or materials required by the Supervisor
All other duties as assigned.
To qualify for this role, you must have...
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field
- Registered and in good standing with College of ECE
- Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Knowledge of childcare regulations and licensing requirements
- Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills
- Current First Aid & C.P.R
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Leadership and teamwork abilities
- Organizational and multitasking skills
- Knowledge of child development and early learning frameworks
- Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
