Our Day School program offers a personalized educational experience for students from Kindergarten to Grade 6. Through small class sizes and a Reggio-inspired, inquiry-based approach, our teachers are able to build strong relationships with each student and tailor instruction to their individual strengths and interests.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Ontario Certified Teacher ("OCT") to join our team in a full-time, one-year contract position as a French, Music, and Art Enrichment Teacher, with the potential for a permanent role upon successful completion of the contract.
This role focuses on delivering engaging, creative, and developmentally appropriate programming in French, Music, and the Visual Arts to students from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 6. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with classroom teachers to design and implement integrated, cross-curricular learning experiences that enrich student learning and support language development through the arts.
As part of a collaborative and supportive teaching team, the successful candidate will contribute to a dynamic learning environment that values creativity, student voice, and experiential learning. The OCT will be responsible for planning and delivering differentiated instruction aligned with the Ontario curriculum (Core French and The Arts), while embracing VMA’s inquiry-based, student-centered philosophy.
The ideal candidate is a creative, flexible, and collaborative educator who is passionate about the arts and language learning. They are confident in leading music and visual arts programming, comfortable teaching French at the elementary level, and committed to fostering a joyful and inclusive learning environment. This role is well-suited for an educator who enjoys bringing learning to life through performance, artistic expression, and hands-on experiences.
What You'll Do

Plan and deliver engaging lessons in French, Music, and Visual Arts aligned with the Ontario curriculum

Create immersive and interactive French language learning experiences

Lead music programming, including singing, rhythm, and performance opportunities

Facilitate visual arts experiences using a variety of materials and techniques
-
Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate arts and French into broader classroom learning

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students

Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative strategies
-
Create structured lesson plans and provide materials for any absent teaching days
-
Foster a positive, inclusive, and creative learning environment

Organize and support school performances, showcases, or exhibitions
-
Communicate with families regarding student progress in enrichment subjects

Support the social-emotional development and well-being of students
-
Contribute to the broader VMA community through school events and initiatives

Uphold and promote VMA’s mission, vision, and values in all interactions
What You'll Need

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from an accredited institution
-
Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification in Good Standing
-
Qualifications in French as a Second Language (FSL) (preferred or in progress)

Primary/Junior qualifications
-
Demonstrated experience or strong background in Music and/or Visual Arts education
-
Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience at the Primary/Junior level (preferred)
-
Strong classroom management and organizational skills
-
Ability to design creative, inquiry-based, and arts-integrated learning experiences
-
Comfort leading musical activities and student performances
-
Strong proficiency in spoken and written French
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-
Experience integrating educational technology (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, SMART Board, SeeSaw, etc.)

Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment

Current Standard First Aid/CPR C with AED certification
-
Current Vulnerable Sector Check
Target Hiring Range
Placement on the VMA faculty salary grid is determined based upon years of applicable teaching experience, level of education completed, and Additional Qualifications (AQs). The grid ranges from $55,520–62,160 for up to 5 years of applicable experience.

Vincent Massey is located 5 minutes south of the Q.E.W and just one block north of the Lakeshore. From children ranging from 3 months to 12 year years old, Vincent Massey Academy ensures that students start their education off in an engaging, supportive, and passionate learning environment.
Our original Daisy Campus location was opened with three classrooms in a school previously owned by the Toronto District School Board- Vincent Massey Public School. Growing from three classrooms to ten, our Daisy Campus now provides care to over 230 students with programs ranging in infant care to the primary years.
In 2014, we opened our second campus which operates out of the Franklin Horner Community Centre. Our Franklin Horner Campus currently provides early learning programs to over 120 students from infant to prekindergarten age.
