What you will do

The Automation Engineer/Specialist will assist with the development and implementation of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) projects, production, processing methods and controls. Through the application of Engineer/Specialization fundamentals and advanced process control tools, this position will ensure that processes are centered, capable and in control; reduce process variations; and resolve special causes variation.

  • Responsible for planning, evaluating, organizing and implementing automation related projects and initiatives.

  • Responsibilities include the designing or developing new process control systems and revision / maintenance of existing processes; developing and implementing WCM projects; managing and guiding contractors, consultants and suppliers; identifying new opportunities and solutions with cost / benefit analysis and making recommendations to improve efficiencies.

  • Planning and scheduling of projects and preparing capital expenditures.

  • Manages automation team’s work flow and automation related projects and provides weekly status report to plant management.

  • Leads and participates in Focus Improvement teams to resolve critical process and production problems with customers and vendors.

  • Provides technical expertise, support and enhancement of automation related systems (PLC / HMI / VFD / Instrumentation / Data and Voice Networks / plant electrical distribution systems) and implements required updates to avoid technical obsolescence.

  • Assists maintenance team with any difficult troubleshooting issues.

  • Uses advanced tools / techniques to reduce process variations and downtime.

  • Analyzes operating problems, develops solutions and leads the implementation of corrective actions.

What makes you stand out from the crowd?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline; or five (5) years of equivalent training and experience to have comprehensive knowledge of the practices, procedures and regulations associated with electrical process control technology may be substituted for a degree.

  • Five to ten (5-10) years of applied professional experience in Instrumentation & Controls / PLC.

  • Applied professional experience in electrical process control, instrumentation, automation, industrial protocols / networking (switching & routing) and databases.

  • Experienced with National Electrical Code (NEC) and Arc-Flash (NFPA-70) code requirements.

  • Understands Burner Flames Safety controls (NFPA-86) combustion controls

  • Expertise in integrated automation and information systems in a manufacturing environment.

  • Flexible, open-minded team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving capabilities to work effectively in corporate, manufacturing and team environments.

  • Ability to provide leadership and innovation at all levels of the organization.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates, the base pay for this position ranges from **9****0 000$ to 120 000$**per year. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to education, experience, skills and qualifications as they relate to the role. Fully qualified and experienced candidates will typically align near the midpoint. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures.
