Island Health is seeking a pediatric cardiologist to join a thriving and growing hospital-based service. Victoria General Hospital (VGH) is the regional pediatric referral center for Vancouver Island.
The Department of Pediatrics in Victoria provides services to a population of over 800,000. VGH serves as the community and regional tertiary pediatric center for Vancouver Island. You will join staff consisting of general pediatricians, with pediatric-specific subspecialty support including NICU, PICU, cardiology, respirology, neurology, nephrology, rheumatology, endocrinology, pediatric general surgery, pediatric urology, hematology, oncology, allergy & immunology.
The successful candidate will join a long-standing practice providing consultative non-invasive cardiology services. Skill set must include all aspects of general pediatric cardiology, with special emphasis on echocardiography. This is a busy ambulatory clinic with well integrated echo and ECG services. We provide outreach clinics to Nanaimo with the potential to expand to other centers on the Island. Inpatient services include support to general pediatrics, level 3 NICU and PICU at VGH. There are excellent echo, electrodiagnostic and nursing supports. The obstetrical service is well supported by Maternal Fetal Medicine and Medical Genetics.
This position will include clinical teaching responsibilities with the Island Medical Program, and a cross appointment with the Division of Cardiology at BC’s Children’s Hospital.
