We are looking for a dynamic individual to be a part of our team for the position of Dietary Aide. Reporting to the Manager of Food and Nutrition Services, the Dietary Aide provides quality meal service for the residents, special functions and special occasions at various sites.
Responsibilities
- Prepares beverages, food items and special products according to job routines
- Provides efficient dining room service, including set up, serving, and sanitation in the decentralized dining sites and portioning, labelling, distribution, delivery and presentation of desserts, beverages, special products and supplies
- Prepares food products, drinks and other related items according to established standards including menus, recipes, volumes and job routines
- Provides quality table service to the residents ensuring diet modifications and supplements as indicated
- Co-operates and converses with the resident’s nursing RNCL; Reports any concerns to the Food Service Supervisor.
- Cleans and sets up tables in the dining sites, strips dishes and delivers to and from the utility area and respective dining room, or effectively operates dish machines at unit level
- Maintains a high level of sanitation, both personal and in the entire work area
- Operates, maintains and sanitizes all food service equipment using HACCP Principles
- Accommodates requests from various service sites via the intercom system, walkie-talkie/ two- way radio or telephone, and responds appropriately providing quality meal service
- Ensures accurate portion sizes and prompt distribution of prepared foods for delivery to designated service areas and replenishes these items during meal service as necessary
- Participates in Nourishment preparation and delivery
- Ensures delivery of food and supply items to work areas as scheduled
- Portions, labels, maintains, stores and serves foods in a manner that ensures maximal nutritional value, food safety and a quality standard of presentation
- Performs established procedures for stock control and rotation
- Practices effective waste and cost controls habits where possible without affecting quality assurance
- Maintains table dressings and appearance in the Dining Rooms
- Assists with and performs other related duties as may be requested
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two to three years food service experience preferably in a long term health care facility
- Certificate in Food Service Workers Course considered an asset
- Basic Food Safety Certification considered an asset
- Experience working with the elderly within a decentralized meal service system considered an asset
- Must be able to lift 50lbs at a time
- Ability to maintain regular and consistent attendance
Start Date: Immediately Hours of Work: 56 Hours Biweekly (10 Hour shifts) Salary/Benefits: As Per Unifor Collective Agreement.
