About the role

This position will focus primarily on projects in the airport environmental program.

We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our Transportation team. Reporting to the Manager of Business & Development, this role leads aviation projects from concept to completion. As part of the Transportation Aviation Branch, you’ll help manage and develop a vital network that includes the Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport, four community airports, and 23 aerodromes. Guided by a strong commitment to safety, innovation, and operational excellence, our team is dedicated to delivering efficient, forward-thinking aviation services across the territory.

Essential Qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Post-secondary education in engineering, architecture, resource or environmental management, planning, business or a related field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or coursework in Project Management such as Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)
  • Experience in environmental planning or management, including leading related projects
  • Experience managing complex projects with high client service and regulatory demands
  • Experience in writing and implementing related plans, policy, procedures, etc.
  • Experience in Computer Assisted Drafting and Design (ex. AutoCAD) or Geographic Information Systems (ex. ArcGIS) would be considered an asset
  • Experience in an aviation-related field or in delivery of aviation-related projects would be considered an asset

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

The ideal candidate will possess these qualifications, skills and knowledge, but also demonstrate suitability for the role and organizational culture. Key competencies for success in this role include:

  • Research, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, successfully adapt to change and effectively manage priorities in a highly regulated, fast-paced work environment

  • Ability to build relationships with senior leadership and stakeholders, while actively collaborating within team and corporate environments

  • Demonstrated leadership in guiding interdisciplinary teams and overseeing all stages of project delivery, including course-correction

  • Verbal and written communication skills

Conditions of Employment

This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment:

  • class 5 driver's licence or equivalent
  • transportation security clearance (TSC) (to be met within 3 months of hire)
  • restricted area identification card (RAIC) (to be met within 3 months of hire)

Job Requirements

This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following job requirements:

  • Travel and mandatory use of personal protective equipment.
