Primary Responsibilities About the Job The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for monitoring, managing, and maintaining accurate inventory levels within the warehouse. This role ensures stock accuracy through regular audits, data entry, cycle counting, and communication with internal teams. The specialist helps support efficient warehouse operations by preventing stock discrepancies, reducing shrink, and improving inventory processes.
Essential Functions Key Responsibilities
- Support and participate in food safety programs including SQF (Safe Quality Food)
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory levels.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, including missing, damaged, or mis-located items.
- Investigate/Report large adjustments and variances as required
- Update and maintain accurate inventory records in the EWM (SAP) or ERP software.
- Assist in managing stock rotations, lot tracking, and FIFO/FEFO procedures (if applicable).
- Ensure proper labeling, storage conditions, and organization of warehouse inventory.
- Support annual physical inventory counts and audits.
- Auditing of outbound orders
- Investigate missed letdowns
- Other duties as requested by warehouse supervisor
- Comply with all warehouse safety policies and participate in maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
Work Environment

Fast-paced warehouse setting with exposure to multiple temperature zones, including:

Ambient (dry storage): 55°F–75°F (13°C–24°C)

Refrigerated/cooler: 32°F–45°F (0°C–7°C)

Frozen: -10°F–0°F (-23°C–-18°C)
-
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.

May require working in cold or freezer environments for extended periods.

Use of warehouse equipment such as scissor lift, pallet jacks, forklifts, or reach trucks.
-
Role may involve early mornings, late evenings, weekends, or overtime depending on operational needs.
-
Requires adherence to PPE guidelines, including cold-weather gear in low-temperature zones.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude
- Strong understanding of inventory principles, cycle counting, and stock movement.
- Proficiency with WMS/ERP systems (SAP, AS400).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and operate MHE & Scissor lift.
