About the role

I*ndigenous Services Canada (ISC)* is seeking experienced registered nurses (RN) to join nursing teams from Sault Ste. Marie, ON to provide care to various First Nations communities, across Ontario.

As an integral part of the team, you will carry out a full scope of practice and provide a broad range of services unique to northern nursing with ISC. You will work alongside a talented team of nurses, other health professionals, and community members dedicated to delivering quality care in a culturally safe way.

Community Health Nurses deliver comprehensive nursing services to clients that include in-depth nursing knowledge, skills, clinical expertise and advanced judgement through consultation, clinical practice, leadership, and facilitate knowledge transfer through health promotion and disease prevention.

Experience:

  • At least two years of experience within the last five as a Registered Nurse (RN) in one or more of the following areas: acute care; intensive care; primary care clinic*; urgent care; emergency care.

*Primary Care Clinic = Clinic setting where a variety of professionals are accountable for addressing a large majority of personal health care needs.

Locations:

From Sault Ste. Marie, ON you will be flown via commercial flights to your assigned community for the duration of your rotation. Work posts include remote and isolated First Nations communities within northern Ontario:

Rotation:

  • Travel/outpost nursing rotations will include a combination of days, evenings, nights, and weekends. Typical rotations are 2 weeks in, 2 weeks out, or 4 weeks in 4 weeks out.

Salary range:

· As of October 1, 2025: A pensionable annual base salary of $95,896 to $109,001 for full time positions (plus applicable allowances)

*Salary range provided was current at the time job post was created. Up to date Salary/Pay range can be viewed through the respective collective agreement.

Allowances

*Nurses may be eligible for the following allowances. Maximum amounts are based on full-time positions, all amounts are pro-rated for part-time positions.

Education

· $3300 annual for Bachelor’s degree, paid bi-weekly

· $3850 annual for Master’s degree, paid bi-weekly

· Additional allowances for other levels of are detailed in the collective agreement

Recruitment

· $6750 lump sum paid within first 2-3 pay periods

· $9750 lump sum paid after 12 months of work

*Recruitment allowance eligibility is for first time Government of Canada new hires.

Retention

· $16,500 annual after 12 months of service, paid bi-weekly

Expanded Professional Role

· $6,000 annual, paid bi-weekly

*dependent on experience, role and location

Isolated Post Allowance

· Up to $25,958 annual (dependent upon the classification of the isolated post), paid bi-weekly

· Classification levels are subject to change; annual rates are updated every August 1st.
