About This Opportunity
As the Distribution Center Lead Supervisor, you will report into the Distribution Manager based out of Brampton.
The Brampton DC delivers 33 million standard physical cases per annum, operating 24 hours a day 6 days a week to service customers in the GTHA.
The Lead Supervisor plays a critical role in managing day-to-day operations, leading both supervisors and hourly employees in a unionized environment, and ensuring that safety, service, productivity, and budget targets are consistently achieved.
Success in this role requires strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to coach, mentor, and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and mentor a team of 3 direct reports along with frontline employees while promoting a culture of accountability, inclusivity, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Deliver against Key Performance Indicators or KPIs through development and consistent execution of processes across the Distribution Center.
- Ensure all team members are managed in alignment with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and company policies.
- Lead communication through effective shift handovers and information transfer between departments.
- Implement root cause analysis and performance improvement plans across key metrics.
- Partner with Sales, HR, Warehouse, Fleet, Production, IPT, and Central Planning to ensure seamless service to customers.
- Lead and support distribution projects and future-state business initiatives.
- Manage programs associated with OTIF (On-Time, In-Full) delivery and driver performance.
- Undertake supervisory responsibilities when required, including route selection, driver coaching, and accident investigation.
- Support the special projects supervisor in management of contractors.
- Other duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- 2+ years of experience required in a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing or supply chian environment.
- Unionized management experience preferred.
- Experience leading change and the application of continuous improvement processes in the workplace to deliver performance improvements.
- Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization, including its executive team and customers.
- Excellent conflict resolution skills, diplomacy, and tact.
- Experience of partnering with a union and skilled in dispute resolution.
- Excellent planning and resource allocation skills.
- Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel).
- Experience of ISO, Food Safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Knowledge of WHMIS, WSIB, ESA and OHSA legislation.
- Ability to work different shifts to accommodate requirements.
- Ability to lift up-to 50 pounds required.
