About the role

Pay rate, benefits and other terms and conditions are as per the CUPE (Local 139) Collective Agreement

The Emergency Department is open 24 hrs/day 7 days per week. It is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team of registered nurses, registered respiratory therapists, social services, pastoral care, crisis intervention, orthopedic technicians and other members of our health care team

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Experience/Knowledge:

  • Graduate of a Community College in the Medical Office Administration Program or equivalent required
  • Medical Terminology Certificate required
  • Clerical experience in Emergency required
  • Patient Registration/Bed Allocation experience required
  • Keyboarding skills (60 wpm/95% accuracy) and Data Entry Skills (6200 kph/95% accuracy) required
  • Knowledge of Collective Agreements, payroll time sheet experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of Expanse is preferred

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all members of the health team required

  • Ability to work in a fast paced high stress environment required

  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with a variety of client groups to ensure patient focussed care delivery and positive customer relations required

  • Good attendance and work record required

  • Must demonstrate commitment to ensure the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors

  • Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization

  • Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level

The North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is a unique healthcare organization with three primary roles. It provides acute care services to North Bay and its surrounding communities, it is the district referral centre providing specialist services for smaller communities in the area, and it is the specialized mental health service provider serving all of northeast Ontario

NBRHC has 389 beds and numerous outpatient and outreach services in North Bay and throughout the northeast region.

NBRHC is one of four major acute care hospitals serving northeast Ontario; the others being Sault Area Hospital, Timmins and District Hospital and Health Sciences North (Sudbury). The area is also served by small community hospitals like Mattawa and West Nipissing General hospitals.

NBRHC’s Regional Mental Health Services provides inpatient beds in North Bay and Sudbury and outpatient and outreach services that throughout the region—from Hudson Bay to Muskoka from Sault Ste. Marie to the Quebec border.
