About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Role Overview:

Reporting to the Health and Safety Supervisor, the Health and Safety Advisor will perform a wide variety of health and safety activities and carry out responsibilities in functional areas including but not limited to: policy and procedure development and review, workplace inspections, high consequence risk control protocol auditing, incident investigation facilitation, site inductions, job hazard analysis and risk assessment facilitation.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide the Health and Safety Department with administrative support through data entry, filing and scheduling. Specifically:

  • Supporting the continual development of the H&S culture

  • Participating and collaborating with regulatory and third parties for inspections or investigations, fire services, etc.) and reporting requirements

  • Performing workplace inspections and audits of high consequence protocols

  • Facilitate the development and review of health and safety policies and procedures

  • Facilitate job hazard analysis and coach on the use of the 5 Point Safety Card

  • Planning and performing internal trainings sessions and monitor completion of mandatory H&S trainings

  • Compile and maintain training documentation, tracking and reporting on various H&S metrics and key indicators

  • Assist in managing Mine Rescue Program and emergency preparedness equipment and procedures

  • Data entry and maintenance of all health and safety information tracking systems

  • Supporting the rollout of corporate/H&S programs, policies, and other initiatives

  • Deliver site inductions

  • Other tasks as required.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma or Certificate Program in Health and Safety or related field

  • Common Core Program and ‘Train the Trainer’ accreditations

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Strong organization skills with ability to multitask and accomplish tasks, projects and goals efficiently

  • Self-motivated and a self-starter

  • Strong verbal, written and listening communication skills

  • Professional attitude and well-developed interpersonal skills

  • Attention to detail and strong process management skills

  • Hold a valid driver's license.
