About the role

GenCore Utilities Ltd. is seeking a skilled Dry Utility Modeler (3D) – Utility Design to support the development, coordination, and delivery of utility infrastructure models for transportation, transit, and municipal infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining accurate 3D models of telecommunications, electrical distribution, streetlighting, traffic systems, CCTV infrastructure, utility corridors, and associated civil works. The ideal candidate will possess strong Civil 3D, AutoCAD and Revit skills, experience working in multidisciplinary BIM environments, and a solid understanding of utility coordination within LRT and transportation corridors. Key Responsibilities · Prepare three-dimensional models for dry utility infrastructure, encompassing telecommunications, electrical distribution, streetlighting, traffic systems, CCTV conduit systems, utility poles, duct banks, and associated civil interfaces. · Transform 2D utility designs, survey data, utility records, and engineering inputs into accurate, constructible 3D model deliverables. · Contribute to the development utility coordination models, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) submissions in support of client deliverables and multidisciplinary design coordination. · Generate 2D plans, profiles, sections, composite utility drawings, and construction details directly from the underlying 3D model environment. · Participate actively in clash detection reviews, constructability assessments, design reviews, and coordination workshops. · Coordinate with utility designers, engineers, BIM coordinators, surveyors, and other project stakeholders to identify and resolve design conflicts and constructability concerns. · Support utility conflict analyses, design change reviews, quantity take-offs, and construction planning activities. · Assist in the preparation of permit drawings, utility relocation packages, and construction documentation in accordance with project requirements. · Uphold modeling standards, naming conventions, file structures, data integrity practices, and quality control procedures across all assigned work. · Conduct quality reviews of models and drawings to confirm compliance with project standards and client requirements prior to issuance. · Support project teams in achieving design schedules, submission requirements, and overall project milestones.

Qualifications · A Diploma, Degree, or Certificate in Civil Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, CAD/BIM Technology, Geomatics, Construction Technology, or a related discipline is required. · A minimum of two (2) years of experience supporting Light Rail Transit (LRT) or major transportation infrastructure projects is required. · Between two (2) and five (5) or more years of progressive experience in 3D modeling, CAD/BIM production, utility design, transportation infrastructure, or municipal engineering is required. · Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is required. · Demonstrated experience creating and managing utility models within Building Information Modeling (BIM) environments is required. · An advanced working knowledge of dry utility infrastructure including telecommunications, hydro distribution, streetlighting, traffic systems, CCTV systems, duct banks, utility corridors, and underground utility networks — is required. · A demonstrated ability to interpret utility records, survey files, alignments, profiles, surfaces, engineering drawings, and construction details is required. · A practical understanding of utility conflicts, construction sequencing, and constructability considerations is required. · Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities are required. · Exceptional attention to detail, supported by an evident commitment to model accuracy and quality, is required. · Effective communication and coordination capabilities within multidisciplinary project teams are required. · A demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and consistently meet project deadlines is required.

Compensation · Hourly Rate: $34 – $44 per hour
