HIGHLIGHTS OF THE OPPORTUNITY
The Donor Relations & Stewardship Officer is a welcoming and people‑focused role at the Georgian Bay General Hospital Foundation (GBGHF). This position is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with others and takes pride in making people feel appreciated. Reporting to the Director, Major Gifts & Campaigns, the Officer helps ensure every donor—no matter the size or type of gift—feels thanked, informed, and valued for the difference they are making for patients and our hospital community.
As a friendly and approachable ambassador for the Foundation, the Donor Relations & Stewardship Officer builds positive, lasting relationships with donors, colleagues, and community partners. Through thoughtful communication and meaningful engagement, this role helps inspire continued support and strengthens donors’ connection to the Hospital Foundation’s mission, values, and impact.
WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR…
Stewardship Programs & Donor Experience
- Create thoughtful and engaging stewardship experiences that help donors feel connected to the impact of their generosity and the hospital community they support.
- Get to know donors’ interests and values so their giving experiences feel personal, meaningful, and rewarding.
- Care for and grow the Foundation’s monthly giving community, helping donors feel appreciated and inspired to continue their support over time.
- Help bring donors closer to the impact of their generosity through welcoming experiences such as Behind the Scenes Tours and the Impact Showcase, giving them a deeper understanding of how their support makes a difference.
- Work closely with the Major Gifts and fundraising team to ensure donors feel well cared for throughout their giving journey and ready for deeper engagement when the time is right.
Donor Communications & Impact Sharing
- Ensure donors receive timely, thoughtful updates that clearly and warmly show how their generosity supports patient care and hospital priorities.
- Partner with the Communications & Engagement team and clinical leaders to turn outcomes and stories into donor‑friendly messages that are easy to understand and genuinely meaningful.
- Help maintain a consistent approach to thanking and recognizing donors—one that reflects gratitude, trust, and respect for every gift.
Donor Information & Accountability

Help keep donor information accurate and up to date, ensuring donor preferences, recognition details, and giving intentions are respected and recorded properly.

Support accountability and transparency by working closely with the Finance and fundraising teams to ensure gifts are handled and receipted correctly.

Prepare helpful reports that support planning, decision‑making, and oversight, helping the Foundation continue to build strong relationships with its supporters.
QUALIFICATIONS & ETHICAL COMMITMENT

A strong commitment to ethical, respectful fundraising practices and caring for donors with integrity, guided by professional standards and the Donor Bill of Rights.

A solid understanding of charitable receipting requirements and the importance of transparency and stewardship.

Comfort working within a hospital foundation environment, where trust, accountability, and reputation are deeply valued.

Postsecondary education in communications, public relations, fundraising, or related field; CFRE an asset.

Minimum 2 years’ experience in donor relations, fundraising communications, or related philanthropic role, ideally in a hospital foundation or similar nonprofit.

Exceptional writing skills across multiple channels.

Experience planning stewardship or fundraising events.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Canva, AI tools, and a fundraising CRM (e.g., Raiser’s Edge or similar) preferred.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a small, fast paced team.
