Job Summary
The Plumber performs journeyperson-level work in the installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of water, sewer, gas, and related systems and fixtures throughout university buildings and grounds. This includes work on domestic and industrial piping, drainage systems, gas lines, laboratory systems, and specialty fixtures. The role requires skill in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic campus environment.
Job Requirements
Must have completed apprenticeship and hold current Trades Qualification. Journeyman (M/F) level skills and demonstrated proficiency in performing plumbing trades tasks, in particular, natural gas installation. Good working knowledge of local plumbing codes and standards. Sufficient strength, stamina and coordination to perform a variety of routine heavy manual and machine operation tasks under all weather conditions. Valid B.C. driver's license required to drive a light truck in performance of above duties.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in mechanical rooms, crawlspaces, roofs, laboratories, and both indoor and outdoor environments. Exposure to noise, heat, moisture, confined spaces, chemical residues, and sewage may occur. Regular lifting, climbing, and bending are required. PPE must be worn where appropriate. May be called upon to respond to urgent issues after hours or on weekends.
