About the role
Winpak Division is currently hiring for the General Production Position based out of Winnipeg on the 12-hour rotating shift. Reporting to the Operator or the Shift Supervisor/Lead hand, the General Production position is responsible for assisting with the safe and effective operation of the railcar unloaders, resin pelletizers, and blown film lines.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Operators with preparing all orders for the shift to minimize non-productive time and production scrap.
- Support the operation of extruders, with a focus on the manual aspects of machine operation.
- Learn to operate extruders through competency-based training programs and direct Operator instruction.
- Assist with routine and basic maintenance of equipment, including assembly, disassembly, and cleaning.
- Perform routine quality checks to ensure product standards are met.
- Complete departmental documentation as assigned.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within the department.
- Operate forklift equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform core cutting as required.
- Assist with pelletizer operations.
- Support railcar unloading operations (outdoors).
- Participate in weekly resin inventory counts.
Required Qualifications:
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- 6+ months of experience with hand tools, including tape measures.
- Ability to take instruction and work independently as well as part of a team.
- Basic mathematical skills and ability.
- Good aptitude for machines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous related work experience preferred.
Additional Details:
- The General Production position is 100% onsite, working on the production floor.
- We are located in Murray Industrial Park. There are limited bus services to this location.
12-Hour Shift Rotation: (example)
- Week 1 - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 8:00-20:00 (days)
- Week 2 - Wednesday, Thursday from 8:00-20:00 (days)
- Week 3 - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 20:00-8:00 (nights)
- Week 4 - Wednesday, Thursday from 20:00-8:00 (nights)
- Week 5 - Repeat rotation starting at week 1
