Senior Financial Accountant
Compensation- 85-95K plus bonus
Based in Downtown Toronto 2-3 days per week in office
Role Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic Senior Financial Accountant to serve as a key contributor within our North American Finance organization. This individual will play a pivotal role in managing daily accounting operations, ensuring the precision and integrity of financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, and delivering insightful financial analysis to support decision‑making. We are looking for a collaborative professional who brings energy, initiative, and a continuous‑improvement mindset. The ideal candidate will confidently lead discussions around process enhancements, compliance, and reporting accuracy, while fostering strong partnerships across the business. Exceptional communication skills, proactive problem‑solving, and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Core Accounting & Reporting
- Lead and support key month‑end close activities to ensure accurate and timely reporting, including preparation of journal entries (accruals, payroll, allocations, reclasses) and clearing of bank items.
- Reconcile employee benefit, remuneration, and other accrual accounts to maintain accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and submit financial and regulatory reports, including census filings and other required governmental submissions.
- Ensure balance sheet integrity by preparing and reviewing account reconciliations, investigating discrepancies, and resolving issues promptly.
- Prepare financial statements for all North American entities, including consolidated Manufacturing and Sales companies, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Perform detailed variance analysis, summarize financial trends, and identify key business drivers.
Financial Analysis & Business Support
- Conduct recurring analysis to identify variances, risks, and opportunities that influence business decisions.
- Support internal and external audit requirements, contributing to efficient and well‑documented audit cycles.
- Assist with Purchase‑to‑Pay (P2P) workflows as needed, ensuring accuracy and adherence to controls.
- Partner closely with operations, supply chain, HR, and other stakeholders to enhance accounting processes and deliver financial insights.
Governance, Controls & Other Responsibilities

Oversee the company's Dun & Bradstreet (DNB) credit profile, ensuring accuracy and supporting vendor risk assessments with procurement.

Participate in special projects, including automation initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and internal controls.

Contribute to continuous improvement discussions across compliance, controls, and reporting processes.
Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of progressive Accounting or Finance experience.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, accounting principles, and key financial metrics.
- Experience with ERP and reporting systems; SAP experience needed.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with strong analytical capability.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong work ethic, and resilience under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly and constructively.
- Proven ability to multitask and manage tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
