About the role

OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Manager, Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness (OHSW), the Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing and interpreting data to support evidence-based decision making, improve workplace health and safety outcomes, and enhance wellness initiatives. Designing, develop and maintain interactive dashboards to monitor and report Occupational Health, Safety & Wellness metrics. Working closely with internal and external partners, the Data Analyst will identify trends, measure program effectiveness, and develop actionable insights to reduce workplace risks, optimize resources and promote a healthy, safe and engaged workforce. The Data Analyst will have strong analytical skills, a collaborative mindset and a passion for leveraging data to promote a culture of health, safety and wellbeing amongst the MGH community.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Data Collection & Analysis: Gather, clean, and analyze occupational health, safety, and wellness data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Data Reporting & Communication: Design and create automated reports anddashboards to provide ongoing visibility into performance metrics, quality outcomes, and OHSW KPIs. Prepare clear, visually engaging reports and presentations that communicate findings, trends, and recommendations to leadership, committees, and other stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
  • Dashboard Development: Build and maintain interactive dashboards to monitor program performance, track trends, and enable real-time data access for stakeholders.
  • Program Evaluation: Measure and assess the effectiveness of safety, health, and wellness initiatives, providing data-driven insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with OHSW leaders, operational teams, and other partners to define data needs, establish reporting standards, and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Data Governance: Maintain data integrity, security, and compliance with relevant privacy and health information regulations.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Public Health, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in data analysis, preferably within occupational health, safety, wellness, or a related healthcare/organizational setting.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent.
  • Strong skills in SQL, Excel, and other data manipulation tools.
  • Experience with automated reporting and dashboard development.

Analytical Skills: Proven ability to analyze complex datasets, identify trends, and translate findings into actionable insights.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work effectively withcross-functional teams and build strong stakeholder relationships.

  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and commitment to data quality, integrity, and security.

Knowledge: Familiarity with occupational health, safety, wellness principles, and relevant privacy legislation (e.g., PHIPA, HIPAA) is an asset.
