We currently have an opportunity for a Loss Prevention Officer II to join our team in our Steinbach branch. As a Loss Prevention Officer II, you will mitigate losses to the credit union by monitoring and assessing delinquent or overdrawn Consumer/Corporate accounts and initiating collection procedures as applicable.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Collect and compile information on the member's financial situation, determining the best course of action
- Initiate collection activities, including demands for payment, asset recovery, foreclosure of real property, write-off recommendations and initiation of legal action
- Prepare for court proceedings and represent the credit union in small claims court
- Manage bankruptcy claims/consumer proposals to minimize losses
- Process transactions, holds and record updates in the banking system
- Prepare departmental reporting
- Coordinate the allocation of recovered assets to maximize returns for the credit union
- Partner with other departments to implement strategies to minimize losses
- Handle questions and concerns from internal staff, while maintaining open communication to ensure a friendly and efficient work environment
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 diploma plus one year of formal education, plus 4 to 6 years of job related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated negotiation, analytical and reasoning, prioritization, organization, time management, planning and follow-up skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills
- Software proficiency
- Working knowledge of the Builders Lien Act, Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, Consumer Protection Act, Mortgage Act and Interest Act
- Certified Financial Collections Professional (CFCP) designation is an asset.
