Long-Distance Independent Contractor Delivery Driver - Sundays Only
About the role
Are you looking for a part-time position on Sundays in the Okanagan?
We are looking for drivers (preferably with large vehicles - minivans, SUVs, etc) to work about 8 hours every Sunday taking a full vehicle of food orders to deliver at customers' homes.
We are specifically seeking drivers to start at our East Kelowna warehouse, drive to Penticton, do a delivery route, and then return to the warehouse, every Sunday. We are looking for the same for Vernon. We are looking for someone with consistent availability every Sunday. Our customers order every week, year-round. You would own your route and get to know your regular customers. We would ask for notification in advance if you are going to be away so we can find another driver to cover your route.
We deliver cooler bags of fresh, prepped ingredients directly to our customers’ homes. Starting from our warehouse in Kelowna by Findlay Rd, you will load orders in your vehicle and follow a pre-planned delivery route. Support is also provided on shift by our dispatch team. We can have you driving with us as soon as this Sunday!
This is an Independent Contractor position that requires the use of your own vehicle and your own smartphone with at least a 3G data plan. Compensation is paid every week through direct deposit.
For this role, we are looking for reliable and consistent availability on:
Sundays 10am - 5pm (required - shift finishes when you complete the route and return to Kelowna)
Mondays 10am - 4pm (optional for a second shift)
Depending on your performance, speed, and vehicle capacity, your hourly average can vary. These routes typically take home about $250 - $350 per shift for 6 - 10 hours of work; you're responsible for paying for your own gas and vehicle maintenance out of your earnings. Due to this, you will keep more of your earnings if you have a fuel-efficient vehicle.
It’s a great way to get to know your way around the Okanagan! Although previous experience is not necessary, we do encourage applicants that have worked with other on-demand delivery companies such as Skipthedishes, Uber Eats, and Amazon to apply.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
- A vehicle with valid insurance (larger vehicles preferred for this route!)
- A smartphone with a data plan
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
- Ability to pass a background check
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
- A positive, friendly attitude!
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Work well under pressure and tight deadlines
- Must be able to work under limited supervision
- Must be able to drive on the road for 4-6 hours
- Ability to work independently
Job Duties:
- Organize and load orders in own vehicle
- Deliver orders in a timely fashion
- Return collected cooler bags and undelivered orders to the warehouse
- Pay is commission based (per-delivery + per-km). These routes average $30 - $50 per hour based on performance.
