About the role:
The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC)
is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive to individual patient/family preferences, needs, and values
and ensures that those values guide all decisions. Creating a caring environment for patients and families ensures
continuity of care and fosters a learning environment. Applicants are required to have a demonstrated knowledge,
understanding and commitment to this care philosophy.
The Regional Paediatric Program will provide virtual clinical support for the care and management of paediatric
patients in regional acute care hospitals and remote nursing stations across Northwestern Ontario. As part of this
program, the registered nurse acts as a paediatric speciality resource, offering real‑time consultation, education, and
clinical support to health care providers in these settings. The program with enhance local paediatric care through
evidence‑ based practice, virtual mentorship, and collaborative care coordination.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
" Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), or the ability
to become licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
" Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent.
" 3 years of current paediatric clinical experience in an acute care setting.
" Advanced experience conducting paediatric physical assessment, particularly in emergency care settings.
" Experience in providing critical and immediate care to children in emergency medical situations, including trauma,
fractures, head injuries, severe allergies, and asthma attacks.
Skills/Abilities:
" Comprehensive clinical knowledge of the paediatric patient population, including a broad knowledge of various
procedures, protocols, guidelines, standards and specific terminology.
" Demonstrated ability to work in high stress situations with strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
" Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
" Collaborative approach to solution focused problem solving.
" Experience and excellence working within a multi‑disciplinary team environment.
" Must be able to balance multiple demands and prioritize activities to meet simultaneous deadlines.
" Self‑directed, with an ability to work independently as a member of a team.
" Excellent computer skill with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and E‑mail applications.
" A general understanding of the TBRHSC information system environment is preferred, including Meditech, and
Community Wide Scheduling.
Assets:
" Current certification in BCLS, Emergency Nurse Paediatric Course (ENPC) and Paediatric Advanced Life Support
(PALS) is preferred.
" Experience conducting virtual clinical assessment via Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) is preferred.
Salary Range: $39.070 to 56.000
