Reporting to the Deputy Minister, the Assistant Deputy Minister Official Languages (ADM) supervises the Official Languages Branch, comprised of three (3) divisions: Translations Bureau, Language Programs, and Language Acts Implementation Divisions. The ADM participates in the development, planning and implementation of policies and strategies that promote Official Languages to promote, protect and preserve language for Nunavummiut. The ADM also contributes to the provision of efficient and effective management, delivery and administration of departmental legislation, programs and services to ensure maximum utilization of resources.  The incumbent reviews and negotiates territorial and federal funding contracts to ensure adequate financing for language program delivery. The ADM is also responsible for fostering the development of the Language Acts implementation approaches to preserve and enhance the Inuktitut language and cultural identity.

Department of Culture and Heritage The Department of Culture and Heritage (CH) develops and implements policies, programs and services aimed at strengthening the culture, language and heritage of Nunavummiut. CH works to promote Inuit societal values in the workplace and throughout the territory, supporting community-based individuals and organizations in cultural, language and heritage activities. The department also supports public libraries in Nunavut.
