About the role

Company Description Black Donors Save Lives (BDSL) is a federal nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing racial disparities in blood, stem cell, organ, and tissue donor pools. The organization focuses on improving outcomes for patients from African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) communities who are disproportionately affected by limited donor matches. BDSL works in partnership with healthcare organizations, community groups, and advocacy networks to increase awareness, engagement, and donor registration among ACB populations. The organization promotes health equity through education, outreach, and evidence-informed initiatives that center the needs and experiences of these communities. In this remote volunteer role, the coordinator will help translate complex research findings into accessible materials such as briefs, summaries, presentations, and toolkits for community members, partners, and stakeholders. Day-to-day tasks may include coordinating small projects, tracking timelines and deliverables, collaborating with team members to align research outputs with outreach objectives, and supporting the development of clear communication materials. The role may also involve attending virtual meetings, documenting key decisions, and contributing to the continuous improvement of BDSL’s knowledge translation processes. Qualifications Project coordination and project management skills to support planning, scheduling, and tracking of research and knowledge translation activities. Translation and interpreting skills to help convert technical or research-focused content into accessible language for diverse audiences. Strong communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to tailor messages for different stakeholders. Ability to work remotely with minimal supervision, manage multiple tasks, and collaborate effectively in a virtual team environment. Interest or experience in health equity, public health, community-based research, or advocacy related to African, Caribbean, and Black communities. Proficiency with common productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, video conferencing, shared drives). Attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to respectful, inclusive, and culturally sensitive practices. Relevant education or training in fields such as public health, social sciences, communications, or a related discipline is an asset but not required.
