Job Title: Guidewire Architect – Commercial Insurance (PolicyCenter & BillingCenter) Location: Markham, ON(Hybrid, 3 days onsite) Employment Type: Full-Time Experience Required: 10+ years overall; 5+ years in Guidewire implementation and architecture Domain: Property & Casualty (P&C) Commercial Insurance Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Guidewire Architect with strong commercial insurance domain knowledge and hands-on expertise in Guidewire PolicyCenter and BillingCenter. The architect will lead the design, implementation, integration, and modernization of Guidewire solutions supporting commercial lines of business. This role requires a combination of Guidewire technical architecture, P&C insurance process knowledge, integration expertise, and leadership across business, product, development, QA, and platform teams. Key Responsibilities Define end-to-end technical architecture for Guidewire PolicyCenter and BillingCenter implementations, upgrades, and enhancement programs. Lead solution design for commercial insurance products, including: Commercial Property Commercial Auto General Liability Workers’ Compensation Business Owners Policy (BOP) Umbrella / Excess Liability Design PolicyCenter capabilities across the policy lifecycle, including: Submission and quote Underwriting and referrals Rating and pricing Policy issuance Endorsements Renewals Cancellations and reinstatements Design BillingCenter capabilities, including: Account and policy billing Invoice generation Payment processing Commission handling Delinquency and collections Write-offs, refunds, and payment plans Define integration architecture between PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter, document management, payment gateways, CRM, data platforms, and third-party vendor systems. Establish API, event, messaging, batch-processing, and data synchronization standards for Guidewire applications. Provide architecture guidance for Guidewire Cloud, on-premises, or hybrid deployment environments. Lead technical design reviews and ensure adherence to Guidewire best practices, security standards, performance requirements, and enterprise architecture principles. Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, underwriting teams, finance teams, and operations teams to translate requirements into scalable Guidewire solutions. Guide development teams on Gosu configuration, rules, workflows, product model, data model extensions, integration patterns, and UI configuration. Support data migration, conversion, reconciliation, and cutover planning for PolicyCenter and BillingCenter implementations. Define non-functional requirements related to performance, scalability, reliability, security, auditability, and disaster recovery. Review code, configurations, integrations, and solution designs to ensure maintainability and quality. Mentor Guidewire developers, business analysts, QA teams, and technical leads. Support production issue resolution, root-cause analysis, and continuous platform improvement. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. 10+ years of experience in software engineering, enterprise architecture, or insurance technology. 7+ years of hands-on experience with Guidewire applications. Strong architecture and implementation experience with: Guidewire PolicyCenter Guidewire BillingCenter Strong experience in commercial P&C insurance processes and policy administration. Expertise in Guidewire configuration and customization, including: Gosu Product Model PCF configuration Business rules Workflows Data model extensions Batch processes Integration framework Experience designing REST APIs, SOAP services, event-driven integrations, messaging, and middleware-based integrations. Experience integrating Guidewire with payment gateways, document generation systems, CRM platforms, data warehouses, rating engines, and third-party insurance services. Strong understanding of insurance billing, premium calculations, installments, payment plans, commissions, collections, and financial reconciliation. Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or DB2. Experience with CI/CD, version control, automated testing, and DevOps practices. Strong communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.
