About the role
Queen Margaret's School is seeking a qualified candidate to assist with the development and delivery of engaging activities for our After School Activity Club participants (ages 5–9). This position runs from 3:00 to 5:00 pm on school days when classes are in session.
We are looking for an individual who embraces the ethos of independent school education, can build positive relationships with students, and thrives in a collaborative learning environment.
All applicants must be willing to undergo a Criminal Record Check initiated by Queen Margaret’s School.
Key Responsibilities
- Support, promote, and assist with on-site and off-site activities for students
- Participate in planned sports, games, and events
- Maintain accurate knowledge of the whereabouts of students under your care
- Escalate discipline or behavioural concerns as needed
Required Qualifications
- 19 years of age or older (per licensing regulations)
- Familiarity with child development and age-appropriate needs
- Experience working with large groups of children
- Positive, cheerful disposition with a passion for student growth and development
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively in emergent situations
- Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to work collaboratively to achieve shared goals and positive outcomes
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations
- Understanding and maintenance of appropriate professional boundaries
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children
- Level 1 First Aid training or higher
- Class 4 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract
Working Conditions
- 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on school days
- Position does not run during Christmas Break, Spring Break, or scheduled Professional Development days
