Your Role
The Set Up Attendant will assist with the set up and tear down of functions, meetings, and events with utmost professionalism and according to the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo standards. The Set Up Attendant is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Your Responsibilities
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Be familiar with all possible set-ups and layouts.
- Set up and break down of rooms for meetings and events.
- Responsible for audio visual equipment set up, storage, inventory, and demonstration of use to guests.
- Set and break down tables and chairs according to diagrams.
- Responsible for removal and storage of event equipment and/or furnishings throughout the facility.
- Set up stages and other requirements for concerts and large events, both indoor and outdoor.
- Operate mixing boards and consoles.
- Operate lighting boards and software.
- Assemble and operate trussing in accordance with all safety procedures.
- Check electrical/phone hook-ups for proper working order and tape down all exposed cords .
- Check the working condition of equipment in accordance with specifications; rectify any deficiencies.
- Report on time and in uniform for each scheduled shift. Present a neat, clean and professional appearance at all times.
- Eliminate safety hazards and report all injuries and accidents to the Supervisor or Manager immediately.
- Be familiar with and consistently use proper lifting techniques.
- Return all equipment not in use to its proper storage area in clean condition by the end of each shift.
- Communicate appropriate maintenance and housekeeping needs to supervisor.
- Attend any scheduled meetings and training sessions.
- Work with Sales Specialists and internal departments to ensure client satisfaction.
- Take inventory and organize, A/V equipment, storage areas, and maintain facilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience
- Completion of Grade 10
- One (1) year prior experience in event set up preferred.
- All Terrain Forklift Certification is an asset.
- Aerial Work Platform and Fall Arrest Certification is an asset.
- Experience in customer service, problem solving, and be able to communicate effectively and professionally.
QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor.
- Knowledge of various types of equipment and setup styles used in the meeting rooms.
- Ability to perform duties with attention to details, speed, accuracy, and follow-through.
- Adapt to meet priority changes of workflow requirements.
- Responsible, cooperative, and enthusiastic team player.
- Must be able to thrive at working in different environments.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to complete certain tasks under specific time constraints.
- Operate designated machinery/lifts.
- Knowledge of room setup, audio visual equipment, and catering experience considered an asset.
- Detail oriented, self-motivated, professional and technology adept.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Criminal Record Check
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position includes heavy lifting of supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs. with the ability to push/pull carts or equipment up to 250 pounds.
- Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8-hours in length.
- This position may be exposed to loud noises and will require an individual to be able to concentrate in a busy environment.
- This position requires a flexible schedule including early morning, late night, and weekend work.
- This position involves working under variable temperature conditions and noise levels, in indoor and outdoor settings. Safe use of employee protective equipment is required by the employer.

About Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo
The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) was created by the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) Council in October, 2012 to design, build, steward and operate several state-of-the-art community recreation, sport and event facilities and venues. The RRC was officially incorporated under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act on June 10, 2013.
Working in collaboration with the RMWB and with the communities it serves, the RRC builds upon the success of MacDonald Island Park, Canada's largest community recreation and events experience, in order to lead and foster an approach of excellence in service delivery and facilities throughout the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, as well as supporting and enhancing initiatives already in place.
Aligned with the RMWB Municipal Development Plan, new initiatives are being developed utilizing the expertise of the entire region. As a result, the RRC will expand and develop services offered in cooperation with various sport, recreation and community associations to similar quality standards while adapting to suit the needs of each community. The facilities, designed to meet the needs of a growing population, encompass both those within the urban area of Fort McMurray as well as facilities in Anzac, Conklin, and Fort Chipewyan.
Alongside MacDonald Island, which includes the Suncor Community Leisure Centre, Miskanaw Golf Club, and Shell Place (currently under construction at MacDonald Island) and the new Anzac Recreation Centre presented by Nexen Energy, a CNOOC Limited company, these present and future facilities will form the foundation for a new era in community recreation, sport and events in the Wood Buffalo region.
